Support Home and Abroad from St Mary's
In the last chapter of Matthew's Gospel, we are told to go out into all the world making disciples of all nations. Acts 1: 8 says we are to share the Good News of Christ, witnessing and loving and serving one another in every corner of the earth. Sometimes, our mission is not about words, but about action.
Zimbabwe
The Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield, has had many links with Zimbabwe for the past 100 years. In 2009, Carl Melville, now on placement with us as a Pastoral Assistant, recently worked with CR to form the 'Tariro Youth Project', which opened an orphanage for teenagers in Harare in August. Tariro (which means 'hope') House was opened for teenagers aged 14 upwards. There is a lack of resources in the country to help teenage and older disadvantaged youth and orphans.
Recently St Mary's has decided to help the work in Zimbabwe by donating monthly. The money goes towards helping many young people in Zimbabwe. With the donations, CR and the team in Zimbabwe are able to help find educational courses, shelter, food and clothing for young orphans who otherwise may be homeless, hungry and uneducated.
We also give financial support to the work of WaterAid and the Bible Lands Society.
As well as trying to help abroad we support charities and good causes at home such as the Archer Project, Christian Aid and the Children's Society.
